TAPPI Announces BioPro Expo™ Event for August 2010
Atlanta -

TAPPI connects diverse industry groups with similar interests: Making the most of renewable energy resources

Atlanta, GA, October 20, 2009 – TAPPI has today introduced BioPro Expo™, the largest conference and exposition in the Southeast covering the full biomass processing spectrum, from supply through processing and utilization. BioPro Expo will provide suppliers of agricultural, municipal and wood wastes, as well as producers of dedicated energy crops and food processing facilities, with in-depth educational sessions and a comprehensive tradeshow focused on practical ways to transition products, residues and waste streams to energy and biofuel resources. This unique multi-industry event is scheduled for August 25 -26, 2010, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

“As the leading association in the paper and related industries, TAPPI brings members with decades of experience in producing and utilizing bioenergy to BioPro Expo, as well as a strong history of more than 75 years in organizing key industry educational programs, conferences and exhibits,” said TAPPI President and CEO, Larry N. Montague.   “With BioPro Expo, we are excited to combine our experience in wood waste feed stocks and conference organization with information from government and academic entities, technology suppliers, renewable energy consumers and associations in industries looking for more sustainable and profitable ways of doing business.”

BioPro Expo’s conference content will bring a unique, cross-industry perspective to the bioenergy field. Subject matter experts from related associations and agencies have been consulted, including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Forest Landowners Association, the US Poultry & Egg Association and the Georgia Poultry Federation.

The BioPro Expo program will address supply and demand issues impacting a range of feed stocks. Sessions and exhibits will deliver information on the latest methods for collecting, transporting and storing these feed stocks, as well as current governmental policy on renewable energy. By attending case study and technical sessions led by industry experts and interacting directly with cutting-edge conversion technologies on the tradeshow floor, attendees will return from BioPro Expo with the most current information on the production of energy and fuel available today.

“NREL is excited to be a part of BioPro Expo – an event that supports NREL’s goal of looking beyond energy innovation to rapid commercialization that can protect our economy, energy security and the environment,” said Mark Davis, PhD, Principal Scientist for NREL.  “We look forward to working with TAPPI and the other industries and associations involved in BioPro Expo to create a program that explores how to quickly and successfully deploy new technologies that capitalize on renewable energy resources.”
